Mixed handed

About

From Hawaii
to the Mainland

Mixed Handed began in 2019 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Our founder, Rob, worked to help local businesses succeed for two years before moving back to the Mainland and settling in Eugene, Oregon.

We still work with some of those original clients, but since then our client list has grown to include clients all across the United States!

Meet the

Marketing Dream Team

Our team is small but growing! Get to know the minds behind the Mixed Handed team down below.

Rob Reilly

Chief poncho wearer

After graduating with a degree in design and advertising from Iowa State, Rob left his homeland of Iowa for the PNW, landing first in an advertising role at The Seattle Weekly. From there he worked in higher education, advising college media at the University of Hawaii, then at the University of Oregon, until it finally came time to build the unique, client-focused creative branding and marketing company he’d always dreamed of.

In March of 2019, that dream became reality and Mixed Handed Branding was born! Rob loves generating creative, results-driven solutions for businesses that are ready to grow and then seeing how our work at MHB helps them realize that growth, continuing to collaborate with clients as their brands evolve. In our sweet little office sitcom, you might call Rob “The Wisecracker”, always tossing a bit of humor into meetings and our daily routine. When he’s not here being the wisecracking “Chief Poncho Wearer”, he’s outside hiking, running, disc-golfing, body surfing, and generally keeping things active.

kylie jess

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

In 2015, Kylie made her way down from her hometown of Portland to study Art at the University of Oregon, which she immediately followed up with three years of professional design and web development experience before landing at MHB.

Now as a highly-skilled graphic designer, Kylie specializes in brand development and custom web design. Her passion for branding lies in taking each client’s goals and ideas and using them to generate a professional, cohesive, powerful aesthetic that elevates their brand’s identity across all platforms.

Her other official title here at MHB is “The Deadpan Snarker”, and we’re happy we can count on her to deliver sarcastic, sometimes cynical but always clever little asides to keep us on track. When she’s not here directing and snarking us to our goals, she’s at the river rockhounding with her adorable dogs, attending local shows, and generally arts-and-crafts-ing her way through life.

TIM RUSSELL

GRAPHIC DeSIGNER & print boss

One of our few Eugene natives, Tim began his marketing journey with a local family-owned business, where he worked his way up from farm grunt to Director of Marketing.

In 2022, he returned to college to complete a graphic design degree, in service of his true passion: visual communication. Much of his 20 year marketing career has focused on printed materials, including everything from bumper stickers to full scale catalogs with mailings in the millions, mostly geared toward generating sales and conversions.

Now at MHB, Tim loves working with our varied client roster, finding creative ways to elevate each unique brand with attractive, innovative, accessible designs that effectively communicate their intended message. Being a wheel-throwing ceramicist and a voracious lover (and critic?) of music, art, and global cuisine, we feel he’s earned his title as “The Snob” in our office sitcom, but like a lovable snob – exactly the breed of snob you want as your brand’s designer.

JJ WALKER

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

JJ Walker has always played life like a well-curated record: a little scratchy, a little unexpected, but always with a beat worth following. Born and raised in Oregon, he’s equal parts artist, designer, DJ, and record collector—the kind of guy who can turn a blank canvas, a dance floor, or a forgotten piece of vinyl into something you’ll never forget.
In the MHB sitcom, JJ is The Karmic Thief— who’s actions are “justified” because they’re being done to someone who deserves it. Really just fulfilling the universe’s karmic duties.

Once upon a time, JJ ran the graphics department at a print shop in Bend, Oregon, where he sharpened his skills and quietly bent the rules of “conventional creativity.” Eventually, the pull of the Willamette Valley, his future wife—and the chance to chase real design freedom—brought him to Eugene, where folks are encouraged to be their authentic selves.

When he’s not sketching, spinning, or stacking records taller than his kids, JJ can be found roaming Oregon’s trails like a bandit with a backpack. He’s a father first, an outdoorsman always, and a designer who thrives on turning constraints into cleverness. Call him a creative outlaw if you want—the kind who never really breaks the rules, just rewrites them until they fit better.

Yeats, Web Developer

YEATS GOODWIN

WEB DEVELOPER

Yeats landed a job as a Web Developer right out of college and has been honing his specialization in website development and creating custom coding solutions ever since. These impressive technical skills are only strengthened by his artistic sensibilities, which manifest these days in writing and performing of electronic, punk, and experimental music around South Florida, where he lives.

He says it’s hot there, but he’s also “The Eccentric” of our sitcom experiment, so we can’t be certain if he means literally, figuratively, or both. More importantly, what Yeats loves most about his work is capturing the essence of a brand and effectively bringing that to life through a web experience.

Apoorva CHAUHAN

SEO & PPC SPECIALIST

After completing her M.Sc. in Biotechnology in 2014, Apoorva Chauhan decided to take her curiosity for research and problem-solving in a new direction - digital marketing. What started as a new professional path quickly turned into a long-term passion, and over the past nine years she has built a strong career helping businesses grow their presence online.

Around the team, Apoorva is known for her calm, focused approach and problem-solving mindset - the person who enjoys digging into data, refining strategies, and making sure campaigns perform at their best.

Outside of work, Apoorva has another very important role - she’s been a proud mom for the past seven years, balancing family life and career with plenty of energy and positivity. When she’s not optimizing campaigns, you’ll likely find her singing, traveling to new places, swimming, or dancing her way through a Zumba session, bringing the same enthusiasm to life that she brings to her work.

Now serving as our SEO and Ads Manager, Apoorva specializes in search engine optimization, with a keen eye for improving visibility and bringing the right audience to the right place at the right time. She also works extensively with Google Ads and Meta Ads, blending strategy, analytics, and creativity to craft campaigns that deliver real results.

SAM RUDKIN

STRATEGIST & PROJECT MANAGER

Originally hailing from a small town in Missouri, Sam made the trek to Eugene in 2013. After getting his start in the visual world with a degree in graphic design, he decided someone needed to actually organize all that creativity. He pivoted to the strategic side of the house and is currently finishing his Bachelor’s in Marketing at OSU, where he specializes in turning "big ideas" into things that actually work.

At MHB, Sam thrives at the intersection of story and execution. He’s the one ensuring that every ambitious creative spark is tethered to a measurable result and a solid deadline. If the brand is the car, Sam is the GPS, the seatbelts, and the person reminding everyone that we actually need to stop for gas.

In our office sitcom, Sam plays “The Square”—the essential "Straight Man" and the Only Sane Man in the room. While the rest of the team is busy rewriting the rules of the universe, Sam is usually found in the background with a raised eyebrow, a color-coded spreadsheet, and a look that says, "Are we sure this is physics-compliant?" He doesn't just manage projects; he survives them with his sanity (mostly) intact.

When he isn’t serving as the tallest entity in the office (sorry JJ) or the team’s grounded protagonist, Sam is out exploring the PNW trails with his dog and is always delighted to talk wine and design, he is exactly the breed of meticulous, slightly critical, and deeply organized PM you want holding the clipboard for your next big project.

JASMINE ROBERTSON

CONTeNT SPECIALIST & CAMPAIGN PLANNING

Jasmine joined MHB for Summer 2025 from the University of Oregon, where she’s majoring in Advertising with minors in Business and Multimedia Design. Her specialty? Dreaming up innovative, audience-savvy marketing campaigns that feel like the perfect puzzle, every piece aligned, every initiative intentional. Whether she’s building social media ads or curating bundles of brand magic, Jasmine brings a fresh perspective and a whole lot of heart.
In our office sitcom, Jasmine is “The Sunshine Strategist”—always kind, always laughing, and always ready to brighten the room with a clever quip or a warm smile. Her kindness is effortless, her humor is infectious, and her energy makes even the Mondayest Monday feel like a Friday.
Outside the office, she’s happiest on a trail in the PNW, discovering hidden water holes and packing the perfect picnic. If there’s sunshine, snacks, and a scenic view, Jasmine’s already there, probably with a playlist, and a perfectly curated picnic set up.

JOURNEY UTPADEL

JUNIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Journey joined MHB in Fall 2025 as an intern, quickly jumping into website design and development while helping bring creative ideas to life across digital projects. Originally from a small town in Southern Minnesota, she recently graduated from the University of Oregon, where she majored in Advertising with a minor in Sports Business. With a passion for storytelling, design, and connection, Journey enjoys creating work that helps brands share their story in thoughtful and engaging ways.

In the MHB office sitcom, Journey plays “The Warm-Hearted Observer”—usually quiet but quick with a well-timed joke or thoughtful insight when the moment calls for it. Outside the office, she enjoys running, crafting, playing pickleball, bowling, and playing with her dog Meeko.

Around the office, Journey is known for sketching out her design plans before diving into the build process—carefully mapping ideas before bringing them to life online. Always eager to learn, she’s often observing, asking questions, and soaking up knowledge from the team.

SOPHIA SOLEIL

summer '25 intern

Born with a love for connection and raised on stories that matter, Sophia is our Summer 2025 intern from the University of Oregon, where she studies Journalism: Advertising with a minor in Business. She came to MHB with curiosity as her compass and a passion for people-driven branding, and she’s been soaking up everything from client voice guides to content strategy ever since.

Sophia thrives at the intersection of creativity and intention—digging into the “why” behind a brand and helping bring it to life with clarity and spark. She’s quick to listen, quicker to contribute, and never afraid to ask the kind of question that makes everyone pause (in a good way).

In the MHB sitcom, Sophia is The Lovable Rogue—charming, disarming, and just rebellious enough to challenge the status quo (nicely). She’s the intern who’ll gently question the brief, reimagine the deliverable, and still have the team laughing by the end of the meeting. Bold yet grounded, she’s part strategist, part poetic wild card, and full-time vibe curator. When she’s not brand whispering, she’s building her own fair-trade business, editing audio like a pro, or plotting how to become the Beyoncé of ethically-sourced bilum bags.
